Technology Planning and Computer Ownership
The availability of dependable, stable, and effective high-speed Internet
connectivity and related technologies is vital to the prosperity of South
Dakota’s communities in the 21st century. From our larger metropolitan areas to
our more remote and isolated locations, South Dakotans depend on high-speed
Internet, commonly referred to as broadband, to connect with family and friends,
conduct day to day activities and stay competitive in business and enterprise.
To help meet the technological challenges of this usage, the State of South
Dakota, as part of the State Broadband Initiative, would like to extend the
invitation of Broadband Technology Planning services to qualified
locations in South Dakota.
|
The Technology Planning and
Computer Ownership program is essential to South Dakotans getting the most from
broadband connections and broadband related services. In many cases, internal
network problems can cause the local network to be the weak link between the
user’s computer and the World Wide Web. We want to help South Dakotan’s make
the most of their broadband services, and their broadband usage experience. |
As a
Community Anchor Institution (CAI) in the State of South Dakota, you have the
benefit of taking advantage of these services at absolutely no charge to
ensure a stable and reliable computing environment. Upon request, the South Dakota
Broadband Technology Planning Team will come on-site to your facility and
perform an initial technical assessment to determine the strengths and
weaknesses of any technology infrastructure in place. Following the assessment,
our team will discuss your desired technological objectives, and help with the
creation of an overall plan for your project to guarantee success. To help facilitate these goals,
computer and network
equipment discounts are available from vendors on state
contract. A sound technical
infrastructure is paramount to getting the most from broadband connections and
broadband related services.
For your
convenience, there is an abundance of self-help resources built within this
website. In our FAQ's section, you will find answers to questions related to broadband connectivity,
computer and application usage and other technical questions. The Knowledge Base includes instructions, training
resources, and technical documentation related to network equipment, computers
and utilization of broadband services in the South Dakota Broadband Initiative.
In addition, grant funding is available to CAI’s
through the South Dakota Broadband Initiative. The purpose of the
funding is to purchase equipment and services that lend to improving CAI’s
technical infrastructure, all in an effort to improve broadband usage and
related services. Please visit the
Grant Application section for more
information and to access an application.
We will
provide on-site consulting services at absolutely no cost to South Dakota
Community Anchor Institutions. To submit your request for this, just click the
